After years of struggling to find something to keep his attention we were so happy to find Dickson Taekwondo. Master Lewis and Mr Lewis have been so patient and understanding and made the class a wonderful experience. The classes have taught him confidence and self control as well as discipline. He loves going to class.

My son has learned so much more here than martial arts. He has grown in self confidence, respect, and skills all the way to earning his first degree black belt. Mr. Lucius Lewis is top notch. If you are considering your child or yourself learning and growing, this is the place.

We have checked out a couple places, and even though we have only been there a couple times the instructor seems really good. He calmly instructs the kids, or redirects them. He doesn't single them out when someone does something they aren't supposed to be doing, he addresses the whole class and says we don't do this because... needless to say, we signed up last night! I really think my kids will get a lot out of it.

2nd year doing the after-school program, and I love knowing my child is safe, getting physical activity, and learning new skills while also holding the kids accountable for their grades and behavior at school as well. Helping teach them to be the best they can be.

I am so thankful for this amazing program. My son has been in the after-school program almost a year and we have enjoyed it tremendously. We have had to take a break due to personal reasons and the family at Dickson Taekwondo have been wonderful and supportive. My son has learned a lot while in the program and we cannot wait to get him back as soon as we are able.

Program & Pricing FAQs

My child has trouble paying attention in school. Can martial arts really help improve focus?

Yes! Our structured classes are designed to teach kids how to listen, follow directions, and stay engaged through fun but disciplined activities.

What if my child is shy or has a hard time making friends?

Our program encourages teamwork and positive social interaction. Many students build strong friendships while gaining confidence.

How does martial arts help with behavior at home?

We reinforce values like respect, discipline, and responsibility. Parents often notice improvements in listening, manners, and attitude outside of class.

My child gets frustrated and gives up easily. Can martial arts help with perseverance?

Absolutely. Through our belt system, kids learn to set goals and work hard to achieve them, teaching persistence and resilience along the way.

Is martial arts safe for young children?

Yes. Safety is our top priority. Our instructors are trained to create a fun, structured environment with age-appropriate techniques.

What makes your martial arts program different from other sports or activities?

Unlike many activities, martial arts develop both the body and mind — teaching focus, confidence, and self-control while building strength and coordination.
