Our lesson of the month for September at Dickson Taekwondo is responsibility. What does this mean?
“Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else.”
— Les Brown
In a nutshell, responsibility means knowing that we control our thoughts and actions. If you were to play a game and the leader of the game told you to raise your hands and wave them in the air as fast as you can, who made you raise your hands? Was it the leader? Or was it you? The leader told you to – but you were the one who did it!
You are responsible for your actions.
Questions to ponder …
- What if the leader of the game told you to shove another person – would you be responsible for that?
- What if you listen to your instructor in class and become a famous martial artist – would you be responsible for that?
- Can you be responsible for both good and bad things?
- Who has the most responsibility for your life – you, or anyone else?
