Have you ever had an “off day” in this class, where it feels like no matter how hard you try, you’re just not able to get things right? Believe it or not, I have those days too. Those days are frustrating, but they don’t make you bad students, or me a bad teacher. Remember, you can still be self-assured, even on off days. Just say, “I still like martial arts; I am still good; I am trying my best and I will not give up!” That’s self-assurance.
Questions to consider …
Is getting mad at yourself good for self- assurance?
2. What is a more positive way to handle frustration?
3. Can you have self-assurance when you do something you know you’re not great at?
4. Can you have self-assurance and still want to get better at things – like martial arts? (The answer is yes, because you must believe you can do it – reference the Week 2 lesson.)
